What is Conch Piercing?

A conch piercing is located on the central part of the ear and, is one of the most versatile types of ear piercings. The conch piercing can be done on the inner or outer part of the ear, depending on the shape of your ear.

For the inner conch piercing, a hole is punctured through the middle of the ear so that a stud can be worn. This type of piercing is suitable for most studs. However, the outer conch piercing goes around the outer edge of the ear's cartilage, making it possible to wear hoop earrings.

How to Measure Your Ear to get Perfect Conch Piercing Size

You can measure the width of your piercing in two ways: by diameter or gauge. The diameter is measured at the ring's widest point, while the gauge calculates the width of the metal and must match the width of your piercing.

Conch rings typically measure between 10 and 12 mm in diameter, but can sometimes reach 14mm.

For a snug fit, those with smaller ears or conchs pierced nearer the edge of their ears may require a 10 mm. However, others will need a larger size.

In addition, follow the instructions for measurement and find the perfect size for you.

Hoops:

Use this method to measure your conch hoop size.

1. Use a ruler to measure the distance from the hole to the edge of your ear.

2. Also, add 1 mm for snug fitting and 2mm for loose fitting.

Bars:

For conch bar sizes, follow these;

1. Insert a standard earring post into your piercing.

2.  After that, mark off on the post where you want the earring post to fit.

3. Upon removing, measure that length with a ruler.

4. Go a little longer so you don’t put undue pressure on your piercing.
